The bush-clad hills and shoreline are ideal for long walks. There’s swimming, boating, kayaking and water-skiing to be done from the boat ramps and bays, and a croquet court in Omori to wile away a few hours.
You can spend a couple of nights 'glamping' among the vines at Streamblock, the rustic local winery and olive grove set in rolling pastureland.
In winter, it’s a great spot to hide away from the world with a pile of books and films, or use as a base for a skiing holiday at Mt Ruapehu.
