The Silver Hammers are a five-piece band assembled to scratch an itch – to do shows consisting entirely of Beatles songs. Local Kapiti musicians were sought including drummer Anje Glindemann, keyboard player Wayne Mason, whose band The Fourmyula were actually recording at Abbey Road in 1969 in studio 1 while McCartney was finishing off 'Oh Darling!' in Studio 2 next door, and guitarists Ramon Oza, Andrew London & Kirsten London.
"This is not a tribute show; we have changed keys, rhythm styles and arrangements to many of our (and your) favourite Beatles songs so don't expect to hear all of them as you remember them. Some songs are done very much as the original versions, some are barely recognisable. Some, like You Won’t See Me and You Like Me Too Much are jazz-iffied, some like I’ll Cry Instead are given the swing treatment, and some, like Revolution, Lady Madonna and No Reply are left pretty much as they are. Much joy ensues."
