If you answered YES to any of the above, join us for a fun and informative “Introduction to International Wine Regions and Varieties” series with a focus on demystifying wine growing regions, grape varieties, styles, and tasting really great wine for everyday consumption (and perhaps a few bottles for a special occasion!).
Each 1-hour session includes focus on 3-4 particular wine regions, their predominant grape variety and tasting.
All sessions will be held starting promptly at 6pm at Rotary House, 12 Story Place, Taupo.
Session 1: Wednesday 30th April
Germany (Riesling), Austria (Gruner Veltliner), Hungary (Tokaj), Georgia (Orange Wine)
Session 2: Wednesday 28th May
Spain (Albarino, Rioja [Tempranillo]) & Portugal (Verdelho, Garnacha)
Session 3: Wednesday 25th June
France (Loire [Muscadet], Alsace [Riesling], Rhone [GSM], Bordeaux [Sauterne])
Session 4: Wednesday 23rd July
Italy (Soave, Chianti [Sangiovese], Barolo [Nebbiolo], Amarone)
Session 5: Wednesday 27th August
South Africa (Chenin Blanc & Pinotage) & Australia (Semillon & Shiraz)
Session 6: Wednesday 24th September
The Americas: Chile (Carmenere) & Argentina (Malbec), USA (Zinfandel), Canada (Icewine)
Full course cost is $120pp which includes all training, tasting of 24 wine varieties and for newcomers, membership to Wine Club Taupo for the remainder of the membership year. This course will run with a minimun of 12 participants so please register early. Registration will close Friday 4th April.
