Although I am a totally self taught artist, studying graphic design at art school in Wellington in the 60s taught me composition, attention to detail and the effects of light, all of which now so greatly influence my style; I describe as 'innocent realism'.
All my life, I have been acutely aware of my surroundings and constantly see new and exciting views. I'm grateful for the wonderful gift of successfully transposing these observations onto canvas, using oils as my preferred medium.
I not only get tremendous satisfaction from painting the landscapes but also derive much pleasure from meeting people from all over the world who share my amazement at the beauty of New Zealand's magnificent and pristine scenery.
