Tūroa Ski Area

Tongariro National Park

Tūroa Ski Area lies on the southwestern slopes of Mount Ruapehu. It has the longest vertical descent of any ski area in Australasia and also boasts New Zealand’s highest chairlift - the Highnoon Express.

Tūroa Ski Area is a favourite with those who enjoy the space and freedom of its wide, open runs, but there are also plenty of chutes, bowls and natural half-pipes if you want a challenge.

Advanced skiers and riders will love the 25 black and double-black diamond runs and the two lift-accessed backcountry areas (Solitude/Organ Pipes and the Triangle/Glacier) which offer a vast variety of terrain.

Alpine Meadow

Alpine Meadow is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. Its 120m long magic carpet lift makes it really easy for beginners to get to the top of the slope. There’s also a separate tobogganing area next to the Alpine Meadow for those that just want to have a play around.

Tūroa Terrain Park

If getting quality park time is your thing, then Tūroa Terrain Park is the place to go. Tūroa has a dedicated freestyle terrain park located just below the top of the Giant Chairlift. There are medium terrain features for intermediate and advanced riders and an XL Park, offering big kickers for advanced riders.
