Pureora Forest Park: Ancient Rainforest & Action Riding

On the western flank of Taupō lies the Pureora Forest Park, an 78,000ha ancient rainforest of giant native totara, rimu, matai, miro and kahikatea trees, rich with rare native birdlife and creatures, plus elite Supervolcanic mountain biking. Home to The Timber Trail - this is a place of wonder and adventure.

The Pureora Forest Park is a time-machine into our natural history. A flagship ride is The Timber Trail, a trail along a historic tramway and routes used to move timber - the journey spans suspension bridges, tunnels weaving through above the forest canopy.
