Tours and transport

Taupo has so many spectacular places to see and activities to try that sometimes its easiest to let an expert take care of your itinerary.

Whether you’re a keen golfer, skier or snowboarder, nature-lover, or traveling group keen to sit back and enjoy the ride together, a tour by bus, private luxury car, or on a bike can help you take in all the highlights of the region with minimum hassle.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing

Rated as the best one-day hike in New Zealand. Hike across a volcanic alpine landscape of dramatic contrasts – steaming vents, glacial valleys, ancient lava flows, alpine vegetation, and vivid crater lakes, all with stunning views.

The best way to get to the start of the track is by shuttle. You can arrange transport through the Taupo visitor centres or see the list of operators below.
