In summer, there are Christmas concerts and the summer music festival, and village markets around the lake. The annual Home and Garden Expo is full of design inspiration and the Merchant Food and Wine festival is a foodie’s delight.
The mid-year Taupō Winter Festival is the centrepiece of the year, with a full programme of events and performances. The Sika Show draws over 5000 visitors to the largest annual event for New Zealand’s hunting community.
The travelling Gypsy Fair regularly stops in Taupo, offering crafts, clothing, jewellery, crystals and live entertainment, and there’s a year-round Taupō Market with food, fresh produce and handcraft stalls galore.
